Sometimes, I like to torture myself and go to public forums where angry people have all the answers.

‘They’ say that Product Launches don’t work anymore.

Their proof is that there are (Ironically) now MORE and MORE product launches from MORE diverse industries for products and services that range from thousands of dollars to just a few sheckles.

Since there seems to be a product launch every other day, they MUST be losing effectiveness… otherwise, there wouldn’t need to be so many launches.

Yep.

According to a few people who have never really done a product launch, the consensus seems to be that product launches have, in fact “Jumped the Shark“.

    BTW, When something Jumps the Shark“, it essentially means that it has lost its effectiveness and needs to resort to outrageous and ill-conceived action in order to remain relevant.
    This expression comes from the Happy Days Episode where The Fonz ended up in a bet that he could water-ski-jump over a shark. Re-read that sentence again just for the sheer joy and fond memories of what we used to think of as entertainment – Arthur Herbert Fonzarelli, in OP surf-shorts and a Members-Only leather jacket. Good times… good times.

On the other hand… do you remember when the Cigarette industry actually claimed that smoking was not only socially desirable; it was actually GOOD for you?
