Why Video Marketing is a Lot Like Art Class

I recently came across a few friends while I was book hunting on marketing with video topics one time. I asked them what they were up to, and I have to admit, I sort of already had an idea, because I had noticed the minute paint smudges on their faces, but I wanted to hear it come from them anyway.

They said that they had just come from art class, and I could barely stifle a chuckle.

No, I’m not the type who goes “didn’t you get enough of art class from when you were still in school?”

I was chuckling because I was really amused that it took them this long to realize how great creative expression is, even for professionals such as ourselves.

This is actually one of the things I keep pushing when sharing thoughts and ideas about internet marketing: that of stimulating people’s inherent creativity and use it in their marketing efforts.

And why not? The most effective campaigns are also usually the most unique and creative.

With this in mind, I’d like to take this opportunity to tell everyone why video marketing (which is now an integral part of online marketing) is a lot like art class.

Stimulate creativity

Marketing with video necessarily entails a bit of creativity on your part, otherwise, what’s the point? It’s like making your own little movie, but with the main intention of using it to promote something of interest. Can you imagine a video that’s supposed to promote something but turns out to be quite boring? Believe me cuz, boring is something you don’t want. Why? Boring doesn’t get watched, and even worse, the “boring” label sticks, much like gum to the bottom of your shoe. That’s why creativity in making your marketing video is very important. You want it to get watched, right? Besides, creativity and video making actually feed each other. Even the smallest bit of creativity you invest in your efforts to make a marketing video actually gets multiplied as you go along. Try it out, you’ll see what I mean.

Promotes recognition

Even if you don’t strive for popularity, creating a really great marketing video is much like making a really great piece in art class, it earns you instant recognition. If you happen to be marketing anything, this recognition is a definite plus, since not only will it put a “stamp” on anything else you make, be it marketing video or written article or whatever, it will automatically put your next creation on the “must watch out for” list of your followers, since they already know that you do crank out things that tend to be awesome. So you see the trend there? Crank out awesome things, and people will keep on waiting on your awesomeness.

Ultimate de-stresser

Everyone knows that any form of art engagement also does a lot to relieve you of stress. This is true even when making marketing videos. Because you primarily put a lot of yourself into creating the marketing video, accomplishing it gives you a really great big “rush”, flushing out any stress and negativity you may have that’s been haunting you. Call it new age, call it mysticism, call it whatever you want, any sort of art engagement has always been proven to do wonders in purging one’s self of stress and other things you are better off without. This has also actually been proven by modern science, as there has been conclusive studies that link engaging in creativity with the release of endorphins, chemical compounds in the body associated with feelings of wellness.

Best marks ever

Hey, I said it’s much like art school, right? Would you believe that just like art school, you also get marks for your work? Of course you do, only this time, the marks you get are either engagement, in terms of interested people in your target market, or even better, actual conversions, where the people have been so moved by your creative marketig video, that they are already ready to invest in it. This is what you have been working for. This is the result that you are looking forward to when you made your marketing video. See, an interesting video will always catch the attention of viewers, and these viewers will definitely share what they find to be interesting with friends and people they know, and this chain has a way of continuing on its own. To make a long story short, the best marks you get are your marketing goals achieved. Not enough for you? Check out your analyics then, because that’s your report card or grading sheet or whatever else you want to call it.

Another reason why I alluded to making a marketing video to art class is that is also a learning process. I can keep on shring the stuff i learned about here on my blog, but believe you me, cuz, there will be a lot of stuff that you will learn for yourself, and these can be among the best things you can ever learn in your efforts to be a better internet marketer. Trust me, I know.

Later.
