just found your blog through a reference on the Warrior Forum. Great post.
One reason that was implied but not quite explicit (unless I missed it): It can be the hub for a whole social media marketing system, where you send people from Twitter and all those places to your blog for your new posts (and/or supply them all with content).
And the biggest part of the fun is that you can have people comment and interact with you as well as with each other right there on your blog, something that they generally can't do on a static website. You touch on that in point 8, but I think it goes much farther than that.
Sure, you can do that on Twitter too, or on Facebook, but if it's on your blog, it's on your own virtual real estate...

Hi Andy,

just found your blog through a reference on the Warrior Forum. I liked this post because you have some great things to say about why we all need to blog more to help our online ventures. Not in a spammy way, but with thoughtfulness, excellent content, good anchor text, the right keywords, etc.
For me, #9 on this list would be: "To become a better writer." I have been doing copywriting and article marketing for clients for a few years now and have noticed a huge difference in my early writings versus what I am doing today. I fully expect that with continued practice, as with anything we do frequently, my writing skills will improve. Hey, I'm no Andy Jenkins, but I can wish, can't I? LOL!
As far as who would play you in your blogumentary movie...I'm going to have to go with Jack Black. I think he's funny and just the right guy to play you on the big screen! I'm just saying...
Keep up the great work Andy!

As a domainer for the past decade, my solution has been to register over 40 citybuilder.com domains including a score of citybuilder domains for major cities and towns throughout the US, host them under a central domain, internationalbuilding.com, and develop them as shared open domains with professional community membership software. In this way I plan to promote how the Internet can be better organised at the DNS level and how the world can develop an intelligent international building system that houses everyone and, in turn, solves climate change.

My main reason I need to blog more in 2010 is that, as an inventor and science writer, I sincerely DO have a solution to housing everybody on the planet easily cheaply and immediately using readily-available locally-resourced recyclable materials and that, considering the events in Haiti recently with around three million people homeless, living in tents, and with the tropical rainy season approaching, I ought to do something it.
