What about the New StomperNizzy™?

I feel a little funny having to explain this, but StomperNet’s marketing campaign for the new 9909 launch was such a massive blast of FreeLine Content that many people may have been overwhelmed.  The question “What do I get when I join StomperNet” got a little lost in the mix of the literally gigabytes worth of free videos they made available to its audience. But let me take a swing, because with the possible exception of StomperNet itself, I’ve been on the receiving end of more questions about the new deal than I can handle individually. If I were selling the new StomperNet today – here’s what I would tell you about it.  Here’s what’s changed, here’s what’s gone, here’s what’s better… What it was:

StomperNet was a private membership community that contained a dozen uber-smart Teachers, 1400 Video Tutorials, over 100,000 forum posts, offered 4 Q&A calls with members and faculty per week, and fielded what I thought were some of the best Live events in the business (With the possible exception of Kern’s Mass Control Parties Events).

Much of that remains, but here’s some features that have evolved: 1 – The community and forum moderators have been empowered through technology and massive expansion of the ranks.  Anyone who has been a successful member has been invited to become a moderator.  And they are encouraged to go forth and teach. So the title “Moderator” is no longer very applicable – they’re more like Professional Peer Advisors. This is a big win for StomperNet and it’s members. 2 – The mastermind coaching. These are small groups of members that can gather regularly and brainstorm, collaborate, and support each other.  This is a feature that is long overdue, because this sort of Social Networking Community’s growth was limited by the old StomeprNet technology. We first tested a version of these small masterminds during the Formula Five program (Thanks in part to the new SN technology powered by a very solid application called “Community Server” that’s been customized to the nines by Doug Price).  Formula Five members LOVED the small group masterminds – loved them. This is a massive win for StomperNet and it’s members. 3 – The faculty model has changed dramatically. For the 3 years that I was at StomperNet, I spent part of that time building a Rock-Star faculty, and tasking them to create the lions share of the 1400 videos that are now part of the training library.

But, a Rock-Star faculty is expensive (Boy Howdy).  And with that expense comes a built in limitation to scalability – meaning, that limited amount of faculty members could only touch so many members, and that meant that StomperNet couldn’t scale up to a size that was large enough to allow lowering the price of the Membership.

The new model leverages a whole lot of smart people who are already out there in on the InterWebs, but might not be familiar to you right now.

Just because you haven’t heard of them doesn’t mean that they haven’t achieved great things – many of them come from different markets, ones that most of us just don’t hang out it.

But, you WILL begin to hear their names more and more as they flex their brains in our space.  In some cases,  StomperNet was able to get these new faculty involved just because they want to prove themselves in the IM space, and as a result, those people are highly motivated.  And because the level of expense has decreased DRAMATICALLY, StomperNet can expand its faculty roster and get expertise in a lot of areas where I couldn’t afford the Rock Stars.

I’m not sure how this new model is going to work – but I do know some of the new additions to the roster.  And… DAYUM, theyz pretty good, yo.

The Old Guard Passes the TorchSome of the faculty of elected to withdraw from StomperNet.

So, you are not going to get people like Dan Thies, Leslie Rohde, Jerry West, or David Bullock to talk to you one on one.  And even if they remained (Some of them will still hang out in the forums, just because they created relationships with the members), this new model (That will probably create a member roster several thousand deep) wouldn’t have supported that kind of high-touch. You just can’t scale that kind of feature.

Honestly, that may not matter all that much for most folks – because 90% of the questions that beginning and moderately experienced entrepreneurs have already been answered among the 100,000 forum posts that have become part of the archive of content that’s included in the new StomperNet.

Shovels, Pick-Axes, and Web Apps. Finally, StomperNet has deployed Web Marketing Tools at a level that the company sorely needed. A whole bunch of stuff that we had in the works and a whole bunch of stuff that Brad was able to bring into the mix because of the relationships that he has is now part of the total offer of the New StomperNet. And in my opinion, even if you only use half of them, it’s a good thing and a good deal. For example:

The StomperNet ecommerce tool.  First, it’s run by a dude named Todd Chism.  Todd is a hyper-successful ecommerce store(s) owner.  Successful to the tune of many millions of dollars a year in sales volume.

And Todd went and made a damn good shopping cart (SEO and Marketing Friendly) and deployed it for StomperNet.  The cool thing about this tool is that it’s included in the StomperNet package, and until you’ve made $50 in sales, there are no additional costs.

Sure, you could deploy a Yahoo Store for $50 a month, but for those first couple of months while you’re learning the ropes, you pay.  It’s not until you create sales above that minimum amount that the cost of the store kicks in.  I think that’s pretty cool.

That’s 1 of 9 Web Apps that’s part of the package. I’m not going to run down the list of tools that are included in the new StomperNet (You can just read them on their Fact Page), but one other tool deserves special mention. How Split Testing SHOULD WORK.

Before Dan and I left, we worked with a Medical Doctor named Rodney Trotter.  Rodney is really and truly brilliant, and has a jones for testing and tracking.  So, he went and built himself the most badass multi-variate split testing application that I have ever seen.  And that’s not an exaggeration, but then again, I don’t get out much.

Setting up tests is about as easy to do as it was for me to write this blog post, and the app will automatically serve the winning combinations of creative WITHOUT human intervention.  Meaning, as it detects higher performing test samples, it automatically puts those combinations in front of the traffic your site receives.

And that is badass.  No lie. What remains intact? The Content

All the content is still there.  ALL of it.  Because of the limitations of the old DNN technology, we had to impose a crediting system that would allow for a fixed number of video views per month (It was pretty generous, but it was still limited).  The new technology dispenses with this crediting system, so you can watch as many of the over 1400 videos as you want.

The Community

The community is still passionate.  To have previously been a member of StomperNet took a huge financial commitment.  Consequently, they were serious folks with serious goals.  And that kind of attitude infected the community of StomperNet in a very positive way.

From what I can tell, that’s still part of the mix – and that’s a good thing.

The Coaching

Lead by Bill Crowther and Andrea Warner, and Coaches in the old StomperNet were GANGSTERS.  I bet they still are.

New Tools, New Faculty Model, New Technology… New Price

The price has changed.  The new StomperNet carries a membership fee of $199 per month.  Compared to the previous price of $797, that’s a good deal.

What hasn’t changed? Brad’s hair. A couple final musings and jib jabs. This is the (NON-AFFILIATE LINK) for StomperNet’s new offer: http://stomper999.com/

Like I’ve said in previous posts, you will NEVER see me promote StomperNet with an affiliate link. It’s not because I have a financial interest in the company, it’s because I think that given my previous ownership and position it would be in bad taste.

But I will offer a warning about what’s on the other side of that link… “The Worlds BIGGEST MULTI-MEDIA SALES LETTER”. It’s so big, you might crash your web browser.  It’s so big, you might need to close Firefox of IE or Safari, restart your machine, and run NOTHING but ONE BROWSER TAB in order to have enough memory to load that bad boy. :) Finally, save the bonuses for the later part of your read.  There’s just a whole gaggle of free-bies that you’ll get when you join the ole’ StomperNet.  Don’t let them distract you from the core offerings – as good as many of them are, some folks might consider them only in terms of marketing gusto, not in terms of the total StomperNet package. Save your work (heh), and have a peek at the new StomperNizzy(™) FYI – the next set of free videos that I’ve been doing with Pirate Dan Thies is schedule to be released tomorrow! Wow, Andy, I thought I’d never see the day that StomperNet membership would be so inexpensive. And it appears the quality of the product hasn’t diminished much, if any, either. I guess that the long-awaited economies of scale have finally kicked in, huh?

Technology is a wonderful thing. :-)

Hey btw Andy.. were you about to release a course about video editing and marketing or was that just a bad dream i had? I am eager to give you some money so keep your teachings rollin’. :)

    • http://www.andyjenkinsblog.com Andy Jenkins

Brother Sebastian, that ole’ video course is being produced as I type… well, not at the moment, cause’ I’m typing – but fo’ sho’, it should show up on the scene round abouts November. And it’s only gonna be like 1 Million Dollars.

  • Ben

    Arrested Development was incredible!

  • Nola

I got lost in the bonus giveaway when I went to the launch page. The old saying “a confused mind will never buy” applied to me in respects of the Stompernet launch. As I was reading the list of bonuses I kept saying I don’t need this, already have something like this, what is this and why do I need it, etc. I was so confused with from reading the bonus I forgot why I went to the page in the 1st place. My confused mind talked me out of joining. After a day to think about it, I decided I’m not ready for Stompernet. I will continue to work with the products I already have and have not finished. (BTW, I’m working on my product everyday.)

    Andy,
I really do hope you are producing that damn course because I’ve had a mare of a bloody day trying to do really basic stuff.

I’m not a complete idiot but today – just to get some simple videos together:-

Recorded an audio narration with audacity to the edit in Camtasia and drop in the ppt slides – easy (pffft)
First the audio (exported as an mp3) wouldn’t play – nothing nada – not even wavy lines on the timeline (I believe that wavy lines is a highly technical term)
I got fed up with it and decided to do the same thing but use Windows Movie Maker (crap – did I just admit I dont use a MAC?)
And lo and behold – the same thing – audio from the mp3 wouldn’t play.

So then follows another few hours of trying different formats, re-recording the narration, downloading various codecs and trawling through Google, forums and (sigh)Yahoo answers to try and find a solution to a problem that I never thought would even exist. At this point I was banking on having the first series of videos done! I’ve concluded it has something to do with length (doesn’t a womans problems always boil down to something similar).

I’m so twisted – that I have come to rant about it on your perfectly nice ‘Stompernet still rocks, kinda’ blog post, which bears absolutely no relevance to the text at all..

…I will get to the point of this almost, very soon……

Anyway – the upshot is, do a bloody video course but include crap like what I have just mentioned, I would have stolen live body parts and donated them to a demon this evening if someone – yeah SOMEONE would have just handed me a simple bloody blueprint. And don’t even get me started on the best plugins to use to upload a video to wordpress, what format it should be in or how to use Amazon s3 and cloudfront – OMG how many days would I have saved if i didn’t have to LEARN all that too.

Please will you just TELL me what to do – call the course ‘The How to Very Simply Record Slideshow Video Tutorials, That Look Slick and are then Easily Edited Using Audacity and Camtasia and Easily Uploaded to your S3 a/c and Over to the Web in a Jiffy Blueprint’

    Write it like this:-
    1) Do this
    2)Now do that
    3)Ta-da

    I would buy it….
Oh and thanks for the Stomper insight too, I totally paid attention to it, and seeking your expertise was a (cough) complete after-thought!

    :)

(please accept the above as research and feedback for your product and not as the inane ramblings of a woman on the edge after hours of geeky, techy stuff)

      • http://www.andyjenkinsblog.com Andy Jenkins

Without inane ramblings of women on the edge, I would have NO audience what-so-ever.

That’s a big ole’ serving of WIN, Nikki.

      Nikki,

Camtasia is a great Screen Recorder software,
but as a project EDITOR it can flat out SUCK,
and make you scream to the at the old Gods of Athens…

      Ask me how I know… AMHIK…

Sony Vegas Pro, or the lite Sony Vegas Platinum is what
you should EDIT and MIX your audio and PPT slides,
and all your other video projects in…

You can then import the finished project into Camtasia,
if you like Camtasia’s production wizards.

Using Camtasia as a video project EDITOR will cause you
to join the Foreign Legion, looking for a quick death…

      AMHIK…

Save your raw Camtasia screen captures as .AVI files,
not .camrec files, and they will export into Sony Vegas
      with no problem…

      Michael

The new price point is good, but also a little sad if you ask me. Sad that the new stompernet will have a lot less leslie, dan, david, jerry, and no andy jenkins. To me, you guys were stompernet.

    • http://www.shaunguido.com Shaun Guidolin

I’m with Dave on this one .. the only reason I’d re-join Stompernet is for the tools — which may be enough to get me back.

The funny thing about the marketing of Stomper 9 is that one of my big gripes when I was a member (close eyes/ears Andy) was how overwhelming the content presentation was and it was often too hard to figure out where to go — and cause more paralysis than anything else. Ironically this new marketing effort tops that. The bonus honestly aren’t needed at all and only adds more “gunk” to a very good product.

That BTW is what I liked about the Net Effect, it was direct and to the point and actionable immediately.

      • eric

Sad to me as well. I was a member for a couple years, but eventually quit due to lack of time associated with demands of my primary profession. I had been considering rejoining for some time. I almost bagged that idea despite the new price when all the above left Stomper. Ultimately, I did decide to try again, but primarily for the tools, doesn’t seem the same without the core group. Brad has always been there in the background but you were the heart and soul of the operation. I am very glad you are back in the mix putting out your videos for all to see. Look forward to your new offerings. Tell Robin I said hello!

  • http://www.noisefreeheadphones.com JEFF MEIER

    Andy;
You made a great point, but I always believed that you could have offered a Tier program of pricing for Stompernet (which Brad now has) , that way if people wanted to pick and choose a level of training and pay for that. You set it up as a system where we had to pay $$ or not be in the club. I always believed that lead to Stompernet losing some great members because they wanted to learn linking, or wanted to learn Social Marketing, or some combination of both, but not all the rest…but it was always presented as a “All or Nothing” offer. I understand you maintained a Killer cast of Faculty which was costly , but quite frankly some of training offered would be overwhelming and that was the leading cause of my in-action, too much to absorb (how many video’s a month?, FOH calls, Coaching calls, Live Events, Forums…)…all good stuff, but just like Niches are the way some people are selling products , your teachings could have been Niche as well..this new version seems to offer a portion of that. Pick and Choose what you need at a price you want..
I always felt if I am paying this dollar amount I should get all the knowledge you were offering, but were there items I that I would never follow up on??, yes, but again if I ignored the availablity of the information then I would be cheating myself right?
The new Tools sound great and I have the highest expectations, but as you pointed out in the past, there were some failures in some of previous tools, and expectations may not always live up to the HYPE…..(ULE anyone??) In fact I was brought into Stompernet with the promise from you Andy of the greatest linking tool ever… was it? Be honest here Andy..
Still I stuck with you and Brad and the faculty because I liked you as person, after I met you as well.. what you said, and how you said it, it was really the people of Stompernet that kept me hanging on, when I saw so many others leaving, so now we are seing all these people like you and Dan leaving or not being active anymore, but will the tools, or the new faculty keep us around?
I want to say yes always, but I think that today is a new day and new realities. I hope I can always maintain some relationships with the old faculty as you all move on, because it was YOU and that gang that kept the majority of us Stompers around. Tools be damned…it is the people in a Social World after all.
If you offer a Video Course and it will help me, I will be right with you ..
(for a Million $$… hmmmm maybe not)
So thank you for keeping in touch and your UNIQUE insight always…
    Your Humble Student Jeff

Thanks for the AWESOME reply Jeff, and I’ll be right here on this ole’ blog. And Dan visits often. :)
