Wow Andy,

How do you write on Sunday without beer?

Anyway, we should all achieve 177% open-rates now!

Yeah, that’s 177 emails opened for every 100 we send…

Very interesting, I believe I will add this to my quiver.

I think this is a pretty fantastic job of breaking down your original webinar to individual topics. I think you lost most people during the broadcast because of info overload. Thanks for having the foresight to not only recapture your audience but give those of us (like me) that tried to take it all in a chance to review and fill in the gaps.

Hey Andy

Your right —- It’s a head slapping moment. It’s a goodthing I’m sitting here alone because anyone watching would have thought I went completely bonkers. Really good info and thanks. I knew some others “work”on Sunday.

Now go have a beer!

Andy,

Love your common sense approach! I think with so much tactical tips and cool technology tricks out there it’s easy to get sidetracked and forget that what comes first are basic principles of human behavior. Your simple ideas on tracking the flow of the “conversation” with my subscribers will help me get even more from Infusionsoft! Can’t wait to get started on it this week! Thanks for sharing this!

Cheers!

The “Common sense” comment, made something click. At some point, you have obviously worked in face to face retail. Everything you’ve said so far, is obvious to anyone that has. Because “selling” is a conversation with a customer, to learn their needs, so that you can either fill them, or send them to someone who can.
If you don’t out the customer at ease, so they trust you, you can’t sell them something. If you see selling as “just making money,” you won’t most of the time. You have to have a passion for what you sell, and satisfying the customers needs. That means talking to, not at them.
It’s so basic that no wonder knows it, for the most part, anymore.

Andy
So simple and yet so powerful!
I agree with Rich that you may have lost a lot of people in the marathon webinar – and by breaking down into chunks its much easier to absorb. Smart!
Love your style and enthusiasm.
Keep it up

Hi Andy,

I’m just a beginner learning the hard way. I love your insights and hope to apply your principles at the earliest opportunity. Right now my shoestrings are fairly threadbare. I hope to keep getting nuggets of insight from you guys. Keep it coming!

Thanks,

Hi Andy,

Is 15% really a “standard” open rate?

If I get less than 40%, I don’t use that subject line again.

A recent email I sent to my list had a 60.5% open rate. My best ever was 65.2%.

My list is built from my blog…maybe that means it has more of a community feel? I have no idea why this is so different. Your input would be appreciated.

Erica

EWWWW NO! :) 15% is LAME!

But its FAR more common than I think most marketers want to admit.

When you capture cold leads from PPC or SEO, or even endorsed Joint Venture Mailings, your open-rate will decline, simply because you start the relationship off with a “Transaction” – I.e. “If you give me your email address, I’ll give you this thing”.

It’s nothing to be worried about, it’s just the law of averages.

Like you, folks that “know me” via da blog are much more apt to open my emails (I think it’s because they want to see what train-wreak I’ve managed to engineer this week…). I’m currently trending at around 55% for Blog Friends, and about 28% for Non-Blog Friends.

Thanks for the response! Maybe the key is to just drive more traffic through my blog. I currently get about 600 new opt-ins a month from it…I think I can do better. :)

Wow!

Erica, impressive stuff, great story, excellent manifesto!

I see you too use Aweber…

I am getting 19% to 34% open rates, mostly subscribers from natural traffic, or opt ins after watching a webinar, with an average open rate of 30%. Segmenting my list is what is holding me back from higher conversions.

Any specifics on setting up the tracking in Aweber as Andy talked about in the videos?

Actionable Interest Rate… I like that. Segmentation is not something I had thought of! Great Idea.

Hey Andy,

Nice, slap to the head video. I use Infusionsoft, but haven’t taken advantage of the tags in the emails. Like my brain, I’m only using 5%. Thanks for the reminder!

Guess I can cancel my therapy now.

Wow Dan! Segmenting lists simply by open rates or clicking links inside the emails is a fantastically simple idea for creating responsive lists. So often it’s the simplest ideas (yet seem the hardest to come by) that are the most effective.

Keep up the good work you two!
